Read carefully! Do not confuse the sequence of actions.
1. Download the archive from the link: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/LM19/uRb9es9NQ
2. Unpack into a separate pack. There will be Two archives with plugins:
a) wordpress-seo-premium-15.3; b) yoast-testhelper.
3. Remove your problematic Yoast Seo plugin completely.
4. Install wordpress-seo-premium-15.3.zip (from the " Transitions. versions").
5. Install the Yoast-test-helper plugin.zip from the same folder (upload translations via FTP: wp-content/languages/plugins).
6. In the Yoast-testhelper plugin, perform the following action: "Reset indexables tables & migrations" (Restart Indexed tables and migrations).
7. Next, go to the Yoast-SEO Tools plugin and Optimize SEO by clicking the "Start SEO data optimization"
button. 8. After that, just Deactivate (do not delete) the plugin 15.3 and install the latest version of the plugin (I already have 15.9).

after reinstalling the new version over the old one.
the optimize does not work!

Only different I made was to install the Yoast-test-helper plugin to wp-content/plugins and not to wp-content/languages/plugins as you wrote

I repeated the steps with Yoast-test-helper and v15.3, and even tried to use the latest version of the helper and got the same result, after upgrading to latest version of the premium the Optimize is not working.
What I found strange is that Yoast-SEO (non-premium version) was also installed and it says "Required by Yoast SEO Premium".
This didn't happen before..

I followed all the steps and Optimize does NOT work on v16.0.2

v16.0.2 that is on this thread also installs the non-premium version, why is that? it was never like this in previous versions.

I reverted to 15.9.2 , optimize works OK and only premium is installed.
I hope in next version it will be fixed.

Yes, all versions should work.
With the release of version 16.0, it should be free and Premium.
I don't know how long it will be, but for now it is.

16.0.3 published here sucks.
I replaced it with 16.0.3 from another site and optinoze works OK!

just replace the current version here.

In previous versions, it was needed.
In recent versions, indeed,
the plugin is updated without helper.
But, just in case, I wouldn't delete it - just deactivate it.

Спасибо огромное! Давно у меня была эта проблема, интуитивно откатывался назад - работало - возвращался на новую - нихт. Ставил тестер, сбрасывал - эгейн энд эгейн все было плохо. Благодаря этой инструкции, всё заработало, единственное, с версии 15.3 обновился до 15.6.2 (какая была), а потом уже на 16.0.3. - всё оптимизировано, буду наблюдать.

Все правильно. Версия 15.6.2 или любая из поздних версий
серии 15.
Сам переход осуществлялся с версии 15.3.
Только после этих действий и можно обновиться до 16.
Только в самых последних версиях автоматом начала генерироваться и бесплатная версия.
Не знаю на долго ли.
Тут главное, чтобы Премиум-версия не была ниже бесплатной (free).
Тогда все будет работать.
Не обновляйте бесплатную версию раньше Премиум - могут быть сбои в работе. Замучают Требования-предупреждения об обновлении.

Он почему то перестал переводиться на русский язык. В чем дело?
